Conventional Turning

Manual Lathe Craftsmanship

Conventional Turning

Also known as manual or traditional lathe turning, conventional turning is a machining process used to shape cylindrical workpieces by rotating them against a stationary cutting tool guided by hand.

For one-off parts, urgent repairs, or jobs where a machinist's judgment beats a programmed cycle, our manual lathes get a part turned and out the door without the setup time a CNC program requires.

This is also where we handle salvage and rework — re-machining a worn shaft, correcting a damaged thread, or matching an obsolete part with no drawing on file.

  • 01 Fast turnaround for single parts and small batches
  • 02 On-the-spot dimensional adjustments
  • 03 Repair, rework and reverse-engineered parts
  • 04 No CAD file required — we can work from a sample
